They Told Him The Casket Had To Stay Closed And He Never Asked Why Until My Three-Year-Old Described The Dog At The Train Station
A work of fiction. The characters and events are invented; any resemblance to real people is coincidental.
My name is Sophia Reyes and I am the housekeeper at a house on the north shore where a man buried his wife in a casket he was told not to open. Two months later my three-year-old daughter walked into his study and told him she had seen that woman standing behind an old train station with a dog, and then she described the dog, and the dog was supposed to have burned in the same car. This is the whole of it, in order, from a hall full of black suits to a boardroom on the fortieth floor, and the parts I was not present for I have from the four people who were.
