Ninety-Seven Motorcycles Pulled Into A Hospital Car Park Because Of One Phone Call. The Men In Suits Outside Room 412 Said She Fell Down The Stairs
A work of fiction. The characters and events are invented; any resemblance to real people is coincidental.
Russell Dalton has been called Graves since he was twenty-six, and in thirty-one years he has asked the people around him for exactly two things. The second one was a single word, sent at four in the morning to a list of numbers that reached across three states. Nobody who received it asked what it was about. By the end of that week, ninety-seven motorcycles were parked in rows outside a hospital in Colorado, and two men in expensive suits were standing outside Room 412 explaining, very patiently, that a seven-year-old had fallen down the stairs.
